NEW EOL SPECIAL FEATURE! Download
playlist upon playlist of Mp3s directly from your computer to a cassette
without using fancy equipment of complex hook-ups.
equipment:
- A computer monitor with a headphone
jack.
- Your hard drive containing your Mp3s.
- A stereo with auxilliary input jacks
and cassette-dubbing capabilities.
- For MONO input jacks: a single-channel
cord to connect the stereo to the monitor. (Available at Radio
Shack, Best Buy, etc.)
- For STEREO input jacks: a dual-channel
cord to connect the stereo to the monitor. (Available at Radio
Shack, Best Buy, etc.)
- A blank cassette tape.
- An Mp3-audio player, such as WinAmp.
how to do it:
1. ) Download the Mp3s you wish to record into an easy-to-manage directory.
(You might even go ahead and write down your intended playlist to keep
the tracks in the order you want.)
2. ) Calculate the minutes/seconds of all the songs
you want to record on one side of the tape. Add all of the seconds together,
then divide by 60 to get minutes (and remaining seconds). Then add those
minutes to the other minutes of all the tracks for the total playlist
time in minutes and seconds. See example.
((S + S + S...) / 60) + (M + M + M...) = M:S of entire playlist
A 90-minute tape has approximately 45 minutes on each side. A 60-minute
tape has approximately 30 minutes on each side. This step isn't necessary,
but I find that it's beneficial.
3. ) Construct your playlist, keeping in mind the running time of each
song. (See step 2.)
4. ) Connect MONO or STEREO input plugs to the auxilliary input jacks
on your stereo. Connect the other end to the headphone jack on your
computer. (See diagram.)
5. ) IMPORTANT!!! Before recording, make sure all of your computer's
other sounds (error messages, beeps, dings, "You've got mail!",
etc.) are deactivated. Also make sure your energy saving features won't
shut off your monitor or computer while you're recording. These are
precautionary measures to ensure that your dubbing goes smoothly. The
last thing you want is to discover upon playback is that you have to
do it all over again because of one little "beep."
6. ) You should also make sure the "SHUFFLE/RANDOM" and "REPEAT"
features on your Mp3-audio player are deactivated too.
7. ) Press <RECORD> on your stereo first. Then hit <PLAY>
on your Mp3-audio player. If your playlist is in order, you should just
be able to sit back and let it go.
8. ) If necessary, repeat steps 1-7 for the other side, or for another
tape.
Congratulations!
